Applying for grants: Information for Students
The Keble Association awards around 100 grants a year and we welcome and encourage good quality applications. The two basic requirements are that you must be a current student and your application must be for a purpose that falls within one of our grant categories. We take care to ensure that a wide range of students benefit.
The application process is dealt with in College and you cannot apply through this site. The advice and guidance from the College ‘in real time’ is definitive and you should follow it. Here we give an outline of what you can apply for, and how the process works.
The grant categories are adjusted from time to time, but in our ‘core offer’, grants are given for the following purposes:
These grants help with study costs that lie outside the normal day to day costs of taking a degree or doing research. The grants contribute to costs that cannot be met, or are only part met, by the College or University Departments. The KA also funds activities which broaden a student’s academic abilities in a subject, for example acquiring language skills. Some examples of grants from recent years include:
- Presenting and attendance at research conferences
- Study at libraries, archives and museums
- Language and IT courses
- International competitions
- Working in Oxford laboratories during the summer
Note that applications for medical electives are required to meet the humanitarian criteria below.
